Power your future with Qualus in our Engineering department as a Utility Permit Engineering Technician.

The Permit Coordinator conducts required research for permit requirements based on the job type and agency for which the work is to be performed. The role will be responsible for researching property

appraiser sites, county GIS, legal documents to find plats, easements, right of way

dimensions, etc. as a necessary function of their job. The Permit Coordinator will draw and

draft permit sketches that adhere to agency specific requirements. You will work in a team with Design Engineers for overhead and underground fiber and electric distribution projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares computer-assisted (CAD) drawings that show work to be completed by the clientthat outlines agency right-of-way boundaries, existing Underground utilities, and measurements from utilities to the work zone
  • Constant communication with client Permit Coordinators to ensure drawings we’vecreated and submitted are approved by the agency. If not, corrections required and tracking is imperative
  • Understand Right of Way, Easements, Road Ownership, property boundaries
  • Submits required documents to client server and document repository
  • Tracks and updates permitting requirements
  • Attends regular training sessions to maintain proficiency in design work
  • Promotes a safe work environment
  • Follows safety procedures in and out of the office including tailboard meeting andvehicle safety inspections (when applicable)
  • Stays current on client guideline changes

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years of experience in coordinating with clients, permit authorities, and internal teams to ensure timely approval of permit drawings.
  • Knowledge of Right of Way, Easements, road ownership and property boundaries, and related legal concepts
  • Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Civil3D or similar programs.
  • Experience in document management and submission processes, including using client servers and repositories.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to track and manage multiple permitting requirements simultaneously.
  • Overall conscientiousness and attention to detail for drawings is necessary to provide agencies with clean, concise, and accurate permit drawings.
