The Processing Utility must be able to operate and adjust all processes for multiple pieces of equipment; monitors line flow and waste; corrects problems which affect quality and production costs; makes line changes as directed by the Production / Package Lead or Team Leader safely and efficiently.  The Process Utility will be willing and able to seamlessly change positions between current qualified jobs to meet plant needs on their respective shift. Processing Utilities have the expectation to cover certain positions based on plant need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Commit to one year minimum in the position from the date you are qualified for the first position and one year from anysubsequentpositions they are qualified for.
  • During the one-year commitment you may not bid on any single non-interest bid position, beyondthe one year the regular bid policy will be followed. Holding theProcessingUtilityposition does not result in any specific job rights for the job you are qualified to back up.
  • An employee holding theProcessingUtilityposition who moves to a different position may be required to work in any of the positions they are qualified in for a period of one year after bidding out.
  • Upon successful completion of the prescribed training period, the employee will perform various duties as assigned by the plant management which may include any position within the production area

A ProcessingUtilitywillbe requiredto be trained/qualifiedinallpositions acrossthe following groups:

  • Batter Mix Operator
  • CutterDeck Operator
  • Fryer Operator
  • ADR Operator
  • Process Operator

Position training schedule will be made by the company asneeded,coverage will also be assigned by the company.

  • TheProcessingUtilityposition is designed to have associates trained/qualified to fill in on shift and for overtime where absences create a need for coverage.
  • When aProcessingUtilityemployee is trained/qualified in more than one job that needs to be covered at the same time, the company willdeterminethe priority as to which position to cover using the Process Utility Operator employee
  • Should aProcessing Utility Team Memberwho istraining,not be able to meet the job qualification standards for the positionsrequiredthe process will be followed asset forth inthe handbook section covering Training,Pullinga Bid, and Disqualification and training will be discontinued
  • ProcessingUtilitieswill be included in the overtime rotation for the positions they are qualified forIf there is an absence that requires overtime from within that group of employees, theProcessingUtilityTeam Memberwill be considered by seniority following the scheduling practices as if they were part of that workgroup.
  • TheProcessingUtilitywill be trainedonset positions and for shift preferencepurposeswill be eligible to move shifts only with thosethe ProcessingUtilitythatcancover the same positions (i.e.,an employee is trained to cover theFryerOperator andBatterOperator positions. That employee may only bump within the group of Process Utility Operator operators trained for thosepositions).
  • TheProcessingUtilitymaybe requiredto work any shift temporarily (Generally notto exceed 3 months) where they are needed for coverage
  • Be an integral part of our Continuous Improvement efforts surrounding thesesystems.
  • Alwaysmaintainssafe work practices,participatesin safety programs,andassuresthat safe work practices are followed in all work groups.
  • Must have the ability to communicate and workwith other hourly associatesand salaried personnel in a positive manner.
  • Learn andperformroutine checkssuch as CIL’s and FSIL’s.
  • Reads,writes,and communicates in English by using prints, sketches, diagrams, operatinginstructions,and technical manuals.
