About the Opportunity

This is for 2 (two) open positions with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

This role is responsible for the mapping and records work for the Distribution function of the Company.

The preferred reporting location for this position is the Greensburg Corporate Office in Greensburg, PA; other service centers in the West Penn Power (western PA areas), Mon Power (WV), and Potomac Edison (western MD) operating areas will be considered.

Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating and directing a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
  • Performing mapping updates on distribution and sub transmission assets in ArcGIS Pro (i.e. interpret construction prints and work management information, import completed designs, update attributes, verify connectivity, and post changes.)
  • Reviewing and completing map fix requests from various stakeholders in ArcGIS Pro.
  • Helping resolve errors affecting the NMS system.
  • Using AutoCAD to import sub-division maps into ArcGIS Pro.
  • Preparing and maintaining specialized electrical schematic drawings such as substation and network using AutoCAD.
  • Developing and manipulating GIS queries of data for investigations, special projects, and statistical analysis.
  • Assisting with process enhancements, new functionality, anomalies, and special projects such as data audits and conversions as assigned.
  • Collaborating with Designers on issues involving mapping data coming from work management (CREWS) or Distribution Design Studio systems.
  • Providing assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities when requested.
  • Travelling occasionally to various FirstEnergy office locations when requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline and 1-4 years related work experience are required.
  • OR high school diploma or equivalent and minimum 2 - 5 years related work experience are required. Related work experience includes knowledge of planning/scheduling of work, construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment and tools which would be used to determine the resources necessary to perform construction and maintenance work activities.
  • Develops knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC), and Customer Guide for Electric Services (CGES).
  • Understands the Company’s Accident Prevention Handbook and Manual of Operations and its practical application in the workplace.
  • Self-motivated and able to balance competing priorities.
  • Provides quality customer service, both internally and externally.
  • Possesses solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced with PC software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook, SAP, GIS, CREWS, and database query tools.
  • Access to a personal vehicle to commute to various facilities and locations as required, and possesses a valid driver’s license.
