Utility Maintenance II

Salary $22.67

This position is located in the Maintenance Division of The Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of COTPA buildings, bus terminal, bus stop maintenance, limited repairs, and facility grounds as required.

Essential job functions include although not limited to:

Cleaning, painting, filter and light maintenance in multiple buildings, operation of tractors, mowers, and lot sweepers. Duties include maintaining bus stops and the Transit Center. Must have the ability to complete work competently within in a reasonable length of time using independent judgement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Communicates verbally in English, so as to be understood both in person and by two-way radio.

• Ability to acquire knowledge of job and occupational hazards and safety precautions required in the shops.

Ability to perform duties independently and with little direct supervision.

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with COTPA personnel.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

• Ability to comply with strict attendance policies.

• Possess a valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License (class B) with a Passenger (P) endorsement within sixty (60) days of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Exposure to dust, fumes, gases, cleaning solvents, noise and unfavorable weather conditions.

• May require a varied work schedule to include: early morning, late nights, weekends and holidays.

• Subject to frequent loud noise.

• Occasionally required to work hours outside scheduled work times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must have physical ability to occasionally twist, squat, kneel, reach, sit, and be on unprotected heights. Requires fine manipulation and an ability to frequently bend and stoop. Requires simple grasping, medium dexterity and hard grasping. Ability to continuously climb stairs, walk, stand, be around moving machinery and extremes in temperature and humidity. Requires forearm rotational movement and use of foot controls.

• Must have physical ability to frequently lift/carry 50 lbs., push/pull 50 lbs. Ability to continuously lift/carry 25 lbs., push/pull 35 lbs.

• Ability to read and write in English sufficiently to understand and complete bus stop installation work order forms and duty check lists.

• Job requires use of both hands either simultaneously or singly and both feet are required for foot controls either simultaneously or singly.

• Vision enough to meet the essential functions of the job.

• Ability to hear and speak clearly and distinctly in English on the telephone, radio and in person.

• Possess a valid Oklahoma Department of Transportation physical examination certification.

• Ability to read and write in English sufficiently to be understand and complete work order forms and duty check lists.

• Hearing sufficient to hear safety and emergency horns.

• Must be able to obtain a valid Oklahoma Department of Transportation Physical Examination Certification.
