The Utility Auditor provides utility and invoice management services for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely processing of community utility bills and individual resident invoices. This role works closely with internal teams and external utility providers to resolve escalated invoice issues and conduct system-generated audits. The Utility Auditor is responsible for maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency while managing utilities on behalf of clients.


*For this role, we are considering candidates located in Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Texas, North Carolina, or Florida.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Process client utility invoice data accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Resolve invoice exceptions to ensure correct association and processing.

  • Communicate with utility providers and vendors to address issues preventing invoice processing.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between account balances and payments.

  • Perform system-generated audits on utility invoices and coordinate resolutions with clients and providers.

  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and follow-ups.

  • Collaborate with Utility Service Managers and internal teams to meet client needs.

  • Support department metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Essential Functions

  • Analyze and process utility invoices with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Communicate effectively with utility providers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues.

  • Utilize problem-solving skills to investigate discrepancies and implement solutions.

  • Maintain organization and attention to detail in managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively by meeting deadlines and managing workload efficiently.

  • Maintain professional interaction with internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment

Minimum Qualifications/Skills

  • 2-3 years of experience working with utilities, accounts payable, or a related field.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with clients and team members.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office products.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.

  • Strong organizational skills to balance workload effectively.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate's degree preferred.

  • Experience in property management or property management-related software is a plus.

AI & Operational Fluency

  • AI Integration: Utilize company-approved GenAI tools to accelerate high-value deliverables.

  • Strategic Oversight: Exercise critical judgment as the "Human-in-the-Loop," by auditing AI outputs for factual accuracy, brand alignment, and the removal of hallucinations.

  • Data Governance: Ensures no proprietary or Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data is exposed to unauthorized models.

  • Prompt Competency: Demonstrates the ability to craft clear, context-rich prompts to achieve consistent, high-quality results across various business domains.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an office (or home office) environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Sedentary work. Repetitive work. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, staring at a computer monitor for extended periods of time.
