Pharmathen offers a great opportunity for career development and is seeking to recruit a Utilities Team Manager to join our Engineering team at our Sapes premises.

As a Utilities Team Manager, you will lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of utility systems, ensuring their continuous availability and compliance with GMP, quality, safety and regulatory requirements. You will coordinate maintenance activities, drive continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate closely with relevant functions to ensure the reliability, efficiency and optimal performance of the site’s utility systems.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure the safe, smooth and reliable operation of all utility systems
  • Lead and coordinate preventive, corrective and routine maintenance activities for utility systems, ensuring timely execution and accurate maintenance records
  • Monitor the performance and availability of utilities, identifying potential issues and ensuring timely corrective actions
  • Identify and recommend improvements, upgrades and replacement solutions for utility systems to enhance reliability, efficiency and operational performance
  • Oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of utility-related areas and systems
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance documentation and records for all utility activities
  • Monitor maintenance progress, identify potential risks and ensure timely resolution of technical issues and breakdowns
  • Provide regular updates to the relevant management regarding maintenance progress, utility performance, operational issues and potential risks that may impact site operations
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Production, Quality and other relevant functions to ensure effective maintenance planning and uninterrupted utility availability
  • Ensure compliance with applicable GMP, Health & Safety, quality and regulatory requirements across all utility operations and maintenance activities
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to utility systems, reliability, energy efficiency and operational performance

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A BSc degree in Engineering or a relevant technical/vocational qualification
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in utilities, maintenance or a similar technical role
  • Good knowledge of utility systems, their operation and maintenance
  • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment will be considered an asset
  • Previous experience in team coordination or people management will be considered an asset
