Job Description

What if your next role gave you the chance to be right at the centre of major infrastructure delivery, helping coordinate the services and interfaces that keep complex projects moving?

We are seeking a Utilities and Services Engineer to join our team, based in either Melbourne or Sydney, supporting the delivery of complex infrastructure projects across site, design and contractor interfaces.

This is a hands-on project coordination role for someone who enjoys working close to delivery, connecting technical input with practical site needs and helping resolve issues before they become blockers. You will work alongside the Project Manager and be supported by discipline leads across electrical, communications and hydraulics.

The Opportunity

As a Utilities and Services Engineer, you will help bring structure, clarity and momentum to the coordination of services across a live project environment. From site inspections and RFIs through to contractor queries and utility interfaces, you will play an important role in keeping project teams aligned and delivery moving forward.

You will be part of a national business with access to technical specialists and project delivery expertise across Australia, while being based with a collaborative team focused on practical outcomes for clients and communities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • You will support the coordination of inground services across a live data centre project, working with the Project Manager, discipline leads, contractors and project stakeholders to resolve issues, manage interfaces and maintain progress.
  • Coordinate site inspections relating to inground services and follow through on actions, findings and agreed outcomes.
  • Manage and respond to RFIs, drawing on input from electrical, communications and hydraulics discipline leads where required.
  • Coordinate contractor queries and help resolve site, design and services interface issues in a timely and practical way.
  • Facilitate utility and services coordination across the project, connecting technical advice with the realities of delivery.
  • Maintain clear communication and records so project teams have confidence in decisions, actions and next steps.
  • Represent WSP professionally with contractors, clients and project stakeholders.

In addition to contributing to our live data centre projects, you’ll also support general transport utilities work across wider large-scale infrastructure projects. This will include working with utility authorities to secure approvals, managing the design coordination of multidisciplinary packages, and supporting the delivery of coordinated utilities packages across complex transport and infrastructure environments.

About you

We are interested in hearing from applicants across a range of experience levels, from those building their capability in utilities and services coordination through to experienced professionals with demonstrated experience leading teams and operating in client-facing roles. You may come from a construction, infrastructure, utilities or building services background, and be comfortable working across site teams, contractors and technical specialists.

Your success in this role will depend on:

  • Experience coordinating inground services, utilities, building services or infrastructure interfaces on construction or infrastructure projects.
  • A strong understanding of site coordination, contractor queries and RFI processes in a live project environment.
  • The ability to work effectively with project managers, discipline leads, contractors and external stakeholders.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical, communications, hydraulics or broader utility services.
  • Clear communication, strong follow-through and confidence documenting decisions, actions and outcomes.
  • A proactive, collaborative style and the judgement to balance detail with the pace of project delivery.
