As the UST Corrective Action Project Manager, you’ll be part of the Underground Storage Tank Management Division, ensuring contaminated sites are evaluated, managed, and remediated in accordance with state requirements. You’ll work with owners, operators, consultants, and internal teams to protect groundwater and help communities thrive.

Job Responsibilities:
Provides project management for sites with soil and groundwater contamination resulting from releases from underground storage tanks; to include technical reviews of plans and reports, conducting site visits, and writing directives for appropriate actions needed to remediate the sites in accordance with Risk-Based Corrective Action criteria
Provides project management for sites using standard operating procedures to initiate active corrective action and monitored natural attenuation on UST release sites, by created Site-Specific Target Levels, working with Owner/Operators and their consultants to develop corrective action plans and for the state lead sites working with Procurement Procedures to develop solicitations for active corrective action and for state lead sites developing the corrective action plan for monitored natural attenuation.
Provides project management for sites using standard operating procedures to maintain active corrective action and monitored natural attenuation on UST release sites, by reviewing corrective action system evaluation reports, monitoring reports, writing response letters to reports received commenting on the effectiveness and progress of the active corrective action or monitored natural attenuation.
Provides technical assistance and information to the public, public officials, industries, consultants and peers. Also ensures database and project files are up to date in accordance with established retention policies.
Reviews and approves cost estimates and invoiced costs for hydrogeological work that qualifies for state fund monies. Checks related reports for accuracy before payment is authorized.
Performs other job duties to include assisting management staff with special projects as assigned.

Examples of duties
A bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or geological engineering.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Experience conducting geologic or hydrologic investigations.
• Experience with groundwater protection regulations and policies.
• Experience with computer tasks such as data management and word processing.
• Experience in customer service.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Additional Requirements
• A valid driver’s license and 10-year driving record meeting State and Agency Fleet guidelines.
• Ability to drive a state vehicle.
• Occasional overnight travel.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Qualifications
Geologist in Training Certification (GIT) or Professional Geologist License (PG).
Experience in groundwater protection regulations and policies.
Experience with petroleum remediation, environmental consulting, or subsurface characterization
Familiarity with GIS or groundwater modeling software

You’ll work under the supervision of the Section Manager, with considerable independence in daily tasks, project evaluations, database management, and field activities. Initiative is encouraged—especially in improving rehabilitation efficiency and financial procedures.
