Classification: Part-Time, Seasonal
Start Date: Fall, Winter, and Spring Seasons
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, with additional Saturday availability as needed (varies by sport)
Reports To: Head Varsity Coach and Director of Athletics
What You'll Do
Coach & Develop Student-Athletes
You'll help run practices, teach skills and routines, and prepare athletes for sideline performance and competition.
- Assist with daily after-school practices Monday-Friday, approximately 4:00-6:00 PM
- Teach and refine cheerleading skills including:
- Sideline cheer techniques and crowd engagement
- Halftime routines for football season
- Stunting progressions and safety protocols
- Tumbling skills (within your expertise and with proper safety measures)
- Dance and performance elements
- GHSA Game Day competition choreography and execution
- Provide individual feedback and coaching to help athletes improve technique, confidence, and performance
- Collaborate with the Head Coach to plan practices, design routines, and ensure safe skill progression
- Spot stunts and ensure athlete safety during all practice and performance activities
Support Game Day & Competition Performance
You'll be on the sidelines and at competitions, coaching athletes through live performance environments.
- Support the team during Friday night football games and other athletic events as assigned
- Coach sideline cheer and crowd engagement during live game situations
- Prepare athletes for halftime performances with choreography, transitions, and showmanship
- Coach and accompany the team to GHSA Game Day competitions, providing technical feedback, encouragement, and strategic support
- Be available for Saturday competitions and events as needed (varies by sport and competition schedule)

Communicate & Collaborate
You'll work closely with the Head Coach, athletic department, and families to ensure clear communication and strong partnerships.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with athletes about expectations, feedback, and growth areas
- Keep families informed about schedules, competitions, and team updates (in partnership with Head Coach)
- Collaborate with the athletic department on logistics, safety protocols, and scheduling
- Maintain organized records of attendance, skills progression, and competition plans as needed
Who You Are
You bring:
- Cheerleading experience - either as an athlete, coach, or both (sideline and/or competitive strongly preferred)
- Coaching or teaching experience working with high school athletes (preferred)
- Familiarity with GHSA rules and Game Day competition format (a plus, but not required)
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain before season starts
- Availability Monday-Friday, 4:00-6:00 PM during Fall and Winter seasons, plus Saturday competitions/events as needed
- Strong communication and organizational skills

- Technical knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals, stunting safety, and performance skills
- Understanding of high school athletes - their developmental needs, motivation, and how to coach them effectively

- Comfort with competition environments and the ability to coach athletes through nerves and pressure
- Strong work ethic and reliability - your athletes and Head Coach can count on you
Bonus:
- Former competitive cheerleader (high school, all-star, or collegiate)
- USASF or AACCA safety certification
- Experience coaching GHSA Game Day competitions
- Choreography or dance background
- Experience working in independent schools
