Job Description

Concept Solutions, LLC (CS) is seeking a User Experience (UX) Designer & Researcher to support a mission-critical application modernization program for a Department of War (DoW) customer. This position is contingent upon contract award, with an anticipated start in October 2026.

This initiative will transform how users access and interact with a portfolio of production applications by creating a unified digital experience featuring a single sign-on, centralized workspace, and streamlined navigation. The program will establish a repeatable approach for integrating applications into a shared platform while maintaining and supporting existing systems.

In this role, you will help shape intuitive, accessible, and user-centered digital experiences for government analysts, industry stakeholders, and the public. You'll collaborate with program stakeholders and technical teams to translate user research into practical design solutions that improve usability, accessibility, and efficiency.

Two positions are anticipated during Phase 1 (Discovery), with one position continuing throughout the program.

User Research and Discovery

  • Plan and conduct discovery interviews with analysts, industry users, and members of the public to understand user needs, workflows, and challenges.
  • Facilitate bi-weekly usability testing sessions to evaluate design effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate research findings into user personas, journey maps, and prioritized recommendations that inform design decisions.

User Experience Design and Accessibility

  • Design intuitive user interfaces for the platform's landing page, inbox, and navigation using a U.S. Web Design System (USWDS)-based design framework.
  • Develop user-centered design solutions that support a consistent experience across integrated applications.
  • Verify that implemented designs meet Section 508 accessibility requirements and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in UX research and design supporting enterprise or government web applications.
  • Experience working with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) or an equivalent design system.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Figma for user interface design.
  • Familiarity with axe or comparable accessibility evaluation tools.
  • Active Secret security clearance.

Work Location and Schedule

  • Location: Hybrid. Work may be performed at Concept Solutions' Reston, VA headquarters and approved remote locations within the United States, with on-site support at government facilities in Northern Virginia and Maryland as required. Government-furnished equipment will be used for all access to government environments.
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with core hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern. The program operates in two-week sprints, including a customer demonstration at the conclusion of each sprint.
  • Travel: 0–10%, within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
  • Security Requirement: U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. An active Secret clearance or higher is strongly preferred and may allow for an earlier start.
  • Compensation: $100,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience.
