New Car Team Leader

The New Car Sales Manager leads the new vehicle department at Ron Marhofer Nissan, overseeing sales performance, inventory management, pricing, merchandising, team development, and customer satisfaction. This role is responsible for achieving volume, gross profit, and CSI goals while maintaining a values-driven culture built on accountability, teamwork, and a world-class customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Performance & Profitability
- Achieve and exceed monthly new vehicle volume and gross profit forecasts.
- Structure competitive, compliant deals that align with OEM programs and dealership standards.
- Drive high PVR performance by ensuring every customer follows full F&I process and video-disclosure compliance.
- Support BDC, marketing, and digital retailing strategies to maximize lead conversion.
Inventory Management & Merchandising
- Order New Cars and Monitor new vehicle inventory levels, mix, and allocations; collaborate with GM and inventory team to locate product and optimize turns.
- Manage pricing strategies in accordance with market conditions, OEM incentives, and group guidelines.
- Ensure accurate, attractive online merchandising including photos, descriptions, digital pricing, and specials.
- Partner with the Used Car Manager on trades, appraisals, and maximizing total dealership gross.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, motivate, and hold accountable a high-performing new vehicle sales team.
- Conduct ongoing coaching, daily one-on-ones, and process-based sales training.
- Maintain culture consistent with Marhofer values—approachable leadership, teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement.
- Lead daily meetings with Sales, BDC, and Finance to align goals, address issues, and maintain strong communication.
Customer Experience & CSI
- Ensure all customers receive a world-class experience from first contact to delivery.
- Monitor guest concerns, escalations, and follow-up to maintain strong relationships and positive reputation.
- Ensure delivery process quality: product presentations, feature demonstrations, and owner onboarding.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Maintain strict compliance with OEM programs, standards, and documentation requirements.
- Ensure all sales processes, digital tools, and CRM utilization meet dealership expectations.
- Partner with Finance to ensure complete deal jackets, accurate paperwork, and compliance with lending and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor key metrics daily: lead response, appointment show rates, close rates, volume, gross, and CSI.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- New Vehicle Volume & Gross Profit:
- Must meet or exceed 100% Nissan New Car Objective monthly
- Must meet or exceed 10% District Market Share monthly.
- Must meet or exceed monthly new unit & Gross Profit Forecast
- F&I Profit Per Deal:
Maintain an average $2,300+ in alignment with Ron Marhofer Auto Family standards.
- Trade in Gross Profit Performance:
- Retail Trades: Minimum $1,300 average trade gross
- Wholesale Units: Minimum $500 average trade gross
- Lead Management & Digital Performance:
Maintain strong responsiveness and sales effectiveness, including:
- Internet Lead Close Rate: 10% or greater on new car leads
- Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI):
Achieve and maintain CSI at above national average
- Minimum 70 Deals Closed per month
