Position Purpose

Urgent Care Veterinarian – Full-Time or Part-Time

Good Friends Animal Hospital | Champaign, Illinois

Looking for a veterinary schedule that gives you flexibility while still allowing you to practice high-quality, interesting medicine?

Good Friends Animal Hospital in Champaign, IL is looking for an Urgent Care Veterinarian to join our team! We are open to both full-time and part-time candidates and are especially interested in finding a DVM who can help us provide urgent care coverage on Saturdays and Sundays.

Beyond the weekends, we're flexible! Additional weekday shifts are available, and we're happy to have a conversation about the schedule that works best for you.

The Opportunity

This is a great fit for a veterinarian who enjoys the variety and pace of urgent care but wants the support and relationships that come with working in an established general practice.

You'll have the opportunity to see a diverse caseload that may include:

  • Same-day sick and urgent appointments
  • Gastrointestinal concerns
  • Minor wounds and lacerations
  • Ear, skin, and eye conditions
  • Respiratory concerns
  • Lameness and pain
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Other non-life-threatening urgent cases

Our goal is to provide an additional resource for pet owners who need care when their pet can't wait for the next available routine appointment, while helping alleviate the need for an emergency hospital visit when appropriate.

Scheduling That Works for You

We know veterinarians are looking for more flexibility, and we're open to getting creative.

Our biggest need is Saturday and Sunday coverage, with opportunities to add weekday shifts depending on your availability and desired schedule.

Whether you're interested in:

  • A full-time urgent care position
  • A part-time weekend-focused schedule
  • Weekends plus one or two weekdays
  • Or another schedule arrangement that works for your lifestyle

We'd love to talk.

Why Good Friends?

At Good Friends Animal Hospital, you'll be supported by an experienced veterinary team that values collaboration, quality medicine, and a positive practice culture. You'll have the opportunity to practice independently while still having a team behind you when you need them.

As part of the Heartland Veterinary Partners community, Good Friends maintains the personality and relationships of a local practice while having access to additional resources, professional development, and support.

Heartland Veterinary Partners

About Heartland Veterinary Partners

Heartland Veterinary Partners is a support organization that is committed to improving the lives of veterinarians. We purchase veterinary practices and provide operational support to relieve administrative burdens such as payroll, recruiting, HR, marketing and accounts payables. If needed, we invest to support growth. The practices maintain their unique branding, culture and clinical autonomy.

At Heartland, we believe that selling a veterinary practice shouldn’t mean losing what makes it remarkable. When we acquire a practice, the doctor comes first. We listen closely to their needs in order to create a one-of-a-kind solution to ease their administrative burdens—all without disrupting their day-to-day operations, the culture they’ve fostered, and the relationships they’ve built. In other words, the name over the door doesn’t go away. The headaches of running a business do.

Partnering veterinarians appreciate an improved work-life balance, less financial worry, and the confidence that their teams will be in good hands. Best of all, they get to focus on why they entered the business in the first place: to care for animals and to be present when their clients need them most. Practice team members enjoy the warm culture of their individual community practices combined with the support and resources that Heartland brings to the table.

Improving the lives of veterinarians means supporting them at all stages of their careers. Whether you're a veterinary student or a new graduate looking for hands-on learning to begin your career or an experienced veterinarian looking to tackle management and leadership opportunities, we keep your goals at the heart of everything we do.

The Heartland Support Center team is hardwired to serve. We follow the philosophy of servant leadership and put the needs of others first with a genuine desire to help. As a result, Heartland’s practices count on team members to be there for them with heart and solution, not a corporate agenda.
