Job Description

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our San Antonio – US Highway 281 clinic.

This is a full-time opportunity in a high-volume urgent care setting, ideal for clinicians who are comfortable working independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Providers practice in a solo-provider model with strong clinical support and clear guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in an urgent care and/or occupational health setting
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care aligned with NextCare’s mission and values
  • Independently manage patient care in a solo-provider clinic
  • Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions
  • Accurately document care in the EHR and ensure appropriate coding and billing
  • Maintain productivity consistent with industry standards
  • Follow up on patient care as clinically indicated
  • Practice in a legal, ethical, and professional manner

Schedule & Location

  • Full-Time: Three 12-hour shifts per week (~130 hours/month)
  • Clinic Hours:
    • Mon–Fri: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
    • Sat–Sun: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Rotating weekends and holidays shared across the provider team
  • Home clinic: San Antonio – US Highway 281, with occasional floating to nearby clinics (scheduled in advance)

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Texas license
  • Active DEA
  • NCCPA (PA) or ANCC/AANP (NP) certification
  • FNP required for NPs (must treat all age groups)
  • Bachelor’s (PA) or Master’s (NP) degree
  • Active BLS certification
  • Comfortable treating patients across the lifespan
  • Strong EHR proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of urgent care, ER fast-track, or walk-in clinic experience
  • Experience practicing independently
  • Comfortable with X-ray interpretation
  • Strong procedural skills (suturing, minor procedures)
  • DOT certification (or willingness to obtain—training provided)
