Job Description

Aspen Medical is seeking a Specialist General Practitioner to relocate to Indonesia and play a key role in the opening of a new international hospital. Working within the hospital's Acute Care/Emergency Centre, you will provide first-line assessment and management of patients presenting with urgent and acute medical conditions. Unlike the Australian emergency medicine model, this position is designed for Specialist GPs with broad clinical capability rather than FACEM-trained Emergency Physicians, with specialist support available for higher-acuity presentations. Depending on the successful candidate's preference and suitability, both FIFO and Permanent options are being considered.

Unlike the Australian emergency medicine model, this role focuses on the assessment, stabilisation and management of acute presentations commonly managed by General Practitioners, working collaboratively with specialist physicians for higher acuity or complex cases. It is ideally suited to a GP who enjoys acute medicine and has experience in urgent care, rural medicine, remote medicine or hospital-based general practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality primary healthcare services, including the assessment, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Provide emergency medical assessment, stabilisation and treatment for patients presenting with urgent or life-threatening conditions.
  • Manage trauma presentations and medical emergencies within the scope of a remote healthcare environment.
  • Perform emergency procedures within your clinical scope of practice.
  • Coordinate referrals, transfers and continuity of patient care where required.
  • Interpret diagnostic investigations including pathology, ECGs and radiology findings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organisational standards.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing staff, allied health professionals and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, clinical governance and patient safety initiatives.
  • Contribute to emergency preparedness, training and continuous service improvement.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Medicine (or equivalent recognised medical qualification).
  • A Fellow of RACGP or ACRRM (or equivalent recognised specialist GP qualification).
  • Experience managing acute presentations within general practice, urgent care, rural or remote medicine.
  • Confidence assessing, stabilising and treating a broad range of undifferentiated presentations.
  • Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary hospital environment alongside specialist clinicians.
  • Previous international, rural, remote or expedition medicine experience will be highly regarded.
  • A minimum of five (5) years post-graduate clinical experience.
  • Flexibility to undertake either FIFO rotations or relocate permanently, depending on the position offered.

Why Join Aspen Medical?

  • FIFO and permanent employment options available.
  • Work with a globally recognised healthcare organisation delivering services in unique and challenging environments.
  • Diverse clinical exposure across both primary care and emergency medicine.
  • Supportive multidisciplinary team and strong clinical governance framework.
  • Competitive remuneration and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful healthcare outcomes while advancing your career.
