Job Description

The Operations Manager has responsibility for the provision of operational leadership and management to the immediate Operational team members within the UC and FL Team.

Job type- Permanent

Base - Salford and Preston, must be able to work from both sites.

Pay- Based on experience.

Company pension scheme

Holidays- 28 days per year (pro rata)

Hours - Contracted hours = 40hrs Monday - Friday. Business operates 24/7, 365 days per year.

Job Purpose:

· The Operations Manager is primarily responsible for the day to day delivery of service provision, ensuring all operational and compliance targets are met.

· The Operations Manager is primarily responsible for the day to day service delivery to patients providing support for operational, dispatch and clinical staff. Reporting daily activity to the UKEMS’s management.

· At all times the post holder must ensure patient safety and reduction in harm to patients, self, colleagues and others by assessing risks and adopting safe working practices.

· The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate communication at all time between all stakeholders and operational staff working at the site.

· To contribute to the safe, timely and effective running of the daily operation of the division and vehicle fleet.

Requirements

· The Operations Manager has the responsibility for the provision of leadership and management to the immediate operational staff.

· Develop a good working knowledge of the business processes to ensure these are being followed by all staff.

· To provide effective leadership in ensuring that standards and practices comply with UKEMS policies and procedures

· To ensure the road staff understand their roles and are working within the clinical governance strategy and promote excellence in clinical practice in accordance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and company guidelines.

· Ensure all crews are booked on within the shift start time requirements, minimizing on any unnecessary down times throughout the shift.

· Assist with office duties, ie staff rota completion where required, run sheet collation and entry, customer report compiling.

· Uphold business principles of customer, patient care, and staff welfare by promoting and maintaining good working relationships and practices in all dealings with staff and outside agencies.

· Ensure that all staff within the team participates in the appraisal system.

· To ensure audits become part of everyday practice, are conducted and reported when required.

· Supplies are monitored and ordered for the operational hubs, supervising the staff in ensuring that their vehicles are appropriately stocked for the working day ahead.

· Incidents and complaints are investigated and managed.

· Support the General Manager with any follow up requirements and investigations.

· To participate in the on-call rota.

Fleet

· To ensure that all daily and weekly vehicle checks are undertaken, keeping accurate records and reporting any discrepancies to the General Manager.

· Ensuring the deep clean schedule is maintained and updated when necessary.

· To carry out random spot checks across the fleet with particular regard to internal and external cleanliness of the vehicle, health and safety equipment and necessary documents.

We work with a number of NHS Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and NHS Ambulance organisations to provide non-emergency patient transport for patients attending hospital appointments.

Secure Patient Transport - We provide a response service for the movement and care of people with mental health illness, managing vulnerable and challenging behaviour safely and with dignity and respect.

All transport requirements are met with highly trained, dedicated crews and vehicles to ensure a safe, comfortable and timely transfer of service users.

We have a variety of vehicle options available in this service ranging from people carrier to secure cell.

Urgent care - We have a dedicated service staffed and equipped to care for patients who need a higher level of care.

UKEMS contracts directly with the NHS and supports NHS ambulance services in this area.

A professional level of dedicated service is available for journeys between health care facilities, or from domestic and supported living establishments upon request.

Medical repatriation - For patients who face the unforeseen situation of falling ill or becoming injured abroad, our medical repatriation service provides the much-needed reassurance and service required.

Paramedic services to GP’s and external training services - UKEMS currently work with general practitioners who facilitate paramedics and other healthcare staff to assist in the day to day management of patients.
