Job Description

Urban Outfitters is seeking an Assistant Designer to support the Women's Tops & Dresses Team! The Assistant Designer supports the Design team in bringing seasonal creative vision to life through trend research, sketching, CAD development, sample execution, assortment maintenance, and presentation preparation. This role requires a strong connection to the Urban Outfitters customer, trend awareness, excellent creative and technical design skills, business awareness, and the ability to stay highly organized in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is collaborative, proactive, adaptable, and able to independently manage assignments while communicating effectively with design leads, cross-functional partners, and vendors to ensure product consistently reflects design intent.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of seasonal product through trend research, sketching, CAD creation, garment mocking, and sample review.
  • Prepare and organize creative materials for key seasonal milestones, including Sketch Review, Finalization, and Print + Color presentations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date assortment tools, line sheets, CADs, BOMs, and product information within Adobe XD, Tradestone, and related systems.
  • Partner with Design leads, Senior Designers and Associate designers, cross-functional teams, and vendors to communicate design intent and support the successful execution of fit, fabric, construction, and product details.
  • Track and organize department samples while independently managing assignments, timelines, and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field, with relevant internship or entry-level design experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Procreate and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly XD and Photoshop, with experience creating accurate and expressive fashion sketches and CADs.
  • Ai rendering experience not required, but is a plus!
  • Working knowledge of garment construction, fit, fabric, draping, sewing, and mock-up techniques.
  • Strong trend awareness and a clear understanding of the Urban Outfitters customer, aesthetic, and competitive marketplace.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to take direction, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate in a fast-paced team environment.
