
The Resource Center Learning Specialist supports and advances the mission of FCS by supporting students with learning differences, enabling them to succeed in all areas, supports teachers to best meeting student needs in the classroom; reports to the Resource Center Coordinator.
Requirements
The Resource Center Learning Specialist should have the following qualifications:
1. Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord and the Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people
2. Regular in attendance at an evangelical Protestant church
3. A commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
4. If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
5. Strong commitment to Christian education
6. Bachelor's or graduate degree (preferred), including special education courses
7. Committed to keeping ACSI or state certification current according to FCS guidelines
8. Past success teaching students with a wide variety of learning differences
9. General familiarity with the Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, which systematically utilizes data to measure, demonstrate, and improve student learning
10. Perceives learning differences and the challenges that come with it as an opportunity from God
11. Recognizes the Biblical (Proverbs 23:7 KLV) and empirical significance of social-emotional competence and its impact on the learning process
12. Enthusiastic, sensitive, loving rapport with students, openness with parents and staff
13. Well organized, diligent, creative, flexible
14. Collaborates well with others in a relational and positive manner
15. Communicates clearly and sensitively with students, staff, and parents
16. Teachable, servant spirit
