Thayer Academy’s Upper School World Language Department seeks a student-focused Latin teacher. This is a full-time position. This full-time position includes instructing four Latin classes (Latin I through AP or Post AP Latin).
Roles and Responsibilities
Teach four sections of Latin (Latin I through AP Latin or post-AP Latin) in the World Language department, which focuses its curriculum on developing strong learners, close readers, and critical thinkers. Cultivate a strong Latin learning community.
Advise a group of 8-10 students.
Apply best pedagogical practices in the classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging among Thayer Academy community members.
Compensation
$70,000 - $86,000
QualificationsQualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required; master's (or higher) is preferred in Education, Latin, or a related field.
3-5 years of teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.
Passion for working with adolescents and da esire to build relationships.
Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community.
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, in curriculum, and in relationships with members of the school community.
High level of comfort and experience with technology in an educational setting.
Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department.
Ability to communicate and listen effectively with students and families.
Commitment to building a reflective teaching practice and an innovative approach to classroom pedagogy, as well as seeking ongoing growth in curricular development.
Interest in engaging in ongoing dialogue with division leadership, department head, and colleagues about best teaching and learning practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, their families, and colleagues.
