Upholsterer

Department: Housekeeping & Laundry

Reporting To: Assistant Laundry Manager

Description

Repairs, restores, and maintains fabric-covered furniture, draperies, and soft furnishings across guest rooms and public areas to ensure a high standard of comfort and appearance

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a sewing machine to seam cushions and join various sections of covering materials
• Repair seats, sofas, curtains, carpets and mattresses
• Gather and assemble specified upholstery materials and accessories for upholstered furniture
• Ensure that the upholstery workshop is tidy and clean
• Keep inventory records of the stored upholstery items
• Maintain machines and equipment in good condition at all times
• Maintain upholstery in all outlets, lobby, corridor, and guestrooms
• Organize and take inventory of all fabric materials and sewing accessories
• Ensure that the fabric materials used in making the upholstery is correct
• Assume duties and tasks assigned by Superiors

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar position.
• Preferably in an international, luxury five-star hotel.
