The City of Aurora is accepting applications for unpaid intern positions for the Fall in various Departments throughout the City. Departments may include but are not limited to:

  • Community Services Department:
    • Community Engagement
    • Innovation & Strategy
    • Public Art
    • Youth Services
  • Engineering
  • Information Technology
    • GIS

  • Mayor’s Office
  • Sustainability, Development, & Business Opportunity
  • Emergency Management Agency

Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled in an Associates, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree program or have graduated within the previous six months.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus, but is not required. The ability to communicate effectively with members of our diverse community is considered an asset, particularly for internships that involve public engagement. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply regardless of bilingual proficiency.

Interview Process:
Initial candidate screenings will take place during the last week of July. Selected candidates will be invited to participate in interviews during the first week of August. Interviews will primarily be held in person; however, Zoom or Microsoft Teams interviews may be available as an alternative.

Internship Term:
Fall internships are anticipated to begin in late August or early September and may continue through December.

Schedule:
Workdays and schedules will vary based on departmental needs, special events, and project timelines. Interns can expect to work 10–40 hours per week for a period of 10–15 weeks

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship
