Unloader Bulk Chemical Operations
The Unloader Bulk Chemical Operations is responsible for safely and efficiently receiving bulk chemicals from tankers into designated containment and storage tanks and process equipment. This position requires strict adherence to safety standards, careful handling of hazardous materials, and proficiency in operating specialized equipment such as Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities.
- Safely loads, unloads, and transfers bulk chemicals from tankers, totes, and drums into designated tanks and storage vessels.
- Conduct pre-transfer inspections and ensure all equipment is functioning properly.
- Monitor transfer operations to prevent spills, overflows, or contamination.
- Operate and inspect C&S tanks, pumps, valves, and associated equipment to verify safety and efficient performance.
- Perform pre- and post-transfer inspections on unloading systems and vehicles.
- Utilize a MEWP for elevated work tasks, ensuring proper training and safety compliance.
- Observes pressure gauges and flow meters and adjusts valves to regulate the speed of pumps and control pressure and rate of flow of materials.
- Maintains pumps and lines by replacing filters and gaskets, tightening connections, and adjusting pumps
- Maintain accurate unloading records, including batch logs, transfer reports, and safety checklists.
- Report equipment malfunctions, leaks, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company-specific chemical handling policies.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Participate in respirator fit testing and wear a respirator as required.
- Perform routine housekeeping of unloading areas to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
- Collects samples of material for lab analysis
- Inventories the contents of storage tanks
- Must have a flexible work schedule to accommodate varying delivery appointment times and operational needs.

QualificationsKnowledge-Skills-Abilities
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED

Experience:
- 1 year of experience in chemical handling, bulk unloading, or bulk transfer operations.
- Experience operating Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) and Forklifts.
- Ability to read and interpret SDS, shipping manifests, and technical instructions.
- Ability to operate pumps, valves, hoses, and specialized material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with safety procedures for hazardous materials.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions.
Technology/Software:
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
- Experience with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
Communication:
- Able to read, write, and speak English
Physical Capabilities
Environment:
- Exposure to chemicals, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments while wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including a face shield, goggles, respirator, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
Strength (lifting, dexterity, repetitive motion):
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
Movement (standing, stopping, sitting, crouching, crawling):
- Able to stand and walk for 8 or more hours
- Able to climb tank stairs, operate valves, pumps, and gauges
Hearing (loud noise tolerance, quiet work area, public speaking, receiving work direction):
- Able to function in a semi-loud environment, with frequent loud bursts of noise (such as backup siren)
Vision (judge distance, read signs, extended computer work, identify details):
- Able to read measuring devices
