Reporting to the University Risk Manager, the University Risk Analyst leads university risk management operations, serves as the claims lead, and provides essential administrative risk functions in support of risk assessment, alternative risk financing, risk transfer, and risk control efforts. The Risk Analysts implements risk treatment, transfer, and mitigation strategies and tools that optimize outcomes consistent with the risk tolerance of the institution and its stakeholders. Areas of responsibility include insurance placements, renewals, certificates (all coverage types), claims management, loss control implementation, event waivers, and risk management consultations. This is an essential position that may be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.
Three years of experience in insurance, risk management, or related field
Demonstrated experience and proficiency in information analysis, organization, and presentation of complex information such as regulations, policies, and services
Experience researching, developing, and summarizing material and data for reports
Experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Other
Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
Work nonstandard hours as needed
Additional Preferred
Bachelor’s degree and two years of related work experience or a combination of education and related experience equal to six years
Higher education administrative or management experience
Knowledge of Banner applications for finance and human resources
Ability to handle stressful situations
Demonstrated ability to establish strong collaborative working relationships with all facets of a university community primarily through liaison activities
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain a professional and collaborative demeanor in emergencies and maintain confidentiality
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work through complex issues and priorities of stakeholders
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Ability to work outdoors and indoors in inclement weather and conditions associated with property damage and claims
Ability to move about and between venues for extended periods of time up to a full day of work
Degree Requirement Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire
