Your personal sphere of influence:

As a university assistant pre-doc, you will complement the research team around Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ulrike Zartler. The research topics cover the following areas: family transitions, separation/divorce and their consequences, norms and rights relating to parents and families, crises and resilience in families, innovative qualitative research methods, participatory research with children and young people.

Your future tasks:

You will actively participate in research, teaching and administration, which means:

• Participation in research proposals and research projects
• Participation in publications, academic articles and presentations
• Writing a dissertation. We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement in the area of family, childhood or youth sociology within 6 months
• Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
• Supervision of students
• Involvement in the organisation of meetings and conferences
• Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration

This is part of your personality:

• Completed Master's degree or Diploma in Sociology
• Professional competence in family sociology; knowledge in childhood or youth sociology is of advantage
• Sound methodical competence in qualitative methods
• Ability to successfully plan, conduct, and write up research
• Didactic competence and motivation to contribute to innovative teaching
• Excellent organizational skills, high reliability, and the ability to work both independently and in a team
• Excellent language skills (written and oral)
• Strong proficiency in German and English (written and oral)
• IT user skills

Desirable qualifications are:

• Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
• Knowledge of university processes and structures
• Experience abroad
• Basic experience in scientific research and academic writing
• Basic experience in third-party funded projects
• Experience with social media in academia

What we offer:

Duration of contract:

The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.
