Job Description

The Universal Banker is responsible for delivering exceptional customer experience by supporting both teller transactions and personal banking services. This role serves as a primary point of contact for customers, handling day-to-day transactions while also identifying financial needs and recommending appropriate products and services. This position plays a key role in relationship building and is accountable for achieving referral goals that support branch growth and customer satisfaction. Conducts relationships and activities consistent with established Bank policies, procedures and systems, the corporate code of conduct, Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and negotiable instruments while minimizing operational error.
  • Open and maintain consumer accounts, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a positive onboarding experience.
  • Engage customers in meaningful conversations to identify financial needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
  • Actively participate in referral programs, meeting established goals and contributing to overall branch sales performance.
  • Maintain and balance cash drawer, adhering to established limits and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in person and by phone, resolving issues with professionalism and care.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all bank products, services, and applicable regulations to effectively support customers.
  • Prevent fraud by following established procedures, identifying suspicious activity, and adhering to all security protocols.
  • Comply with all applicable banking regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act requirements and information security standards.

Qualifications

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in transaction processing.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to balance service and sales responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior banking, cash handling, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Sales or referral experience is a plus.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic math and computer proficiency.
  • Ability to operate standard banking and office equipment.
  • Must be able to meet referral performance expectations and goals.
  • Regular in-person attendance at assigned branch location required.
  • Willingness to assume additional responsibilities/duties/projects as they arise.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality are required for this position.
