In this position...

At Ford Motor Company, we are dedicated to designing, manufacturing and selling high quality vehicles that meet the diverse needs of our customers. We believe our employees and the different perspectives that they bring to the business are the driving force behind our success. Come discover a company that is focused on the quality of our vehicles, the environment, the community and the world in which we live.

New Model Programs Development Center (NMPDC) is where new model/prototype vehicles are built for testing and development. Our role is to manufacture new products for the first time, documenting the steps and procedures, developing efficiencies and eliminating issues before the final product launches at assembly facilities.

What you'll do...

This is an onsite position that requires the ability to work on various shifts, including nights and weekends, to support our continuous operations.

The Unit Supervisor is a critical leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient, and customer-focused operation of employees and the facility. This position demands a dynamic leader with a strong background in manufacturing and team leadership. The Process Coach is responsible for driving performance across all key metrics, fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring a positive and productive work environment.

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations within the NMPDC, driving continuous improvement in Safety and Quality to meet or exceed performance targets. Continually seeking opportunities and motivating others to improve processes and outcomes, addressing shortcomings proactively and celebrating successes.
  • Team Management & Development: Provide leadership and direction to a diverse workforce of UAW hourly employees. Embrace a servant leadership style, focusing on building high performing, winning teams and investing in their growth.
  • Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance: Maintain a keen focus on identifying and eliminating inefficiencies, improving processes, and driving innovation to enhance productivity, quality, and safety. You will be uncompromisingly committed to quality, implementing and maintaining rigorous standards, and relentlessly pursuing excellence to eliminate defects and ensure exceptional product quality.
  • Safety & Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment for all employees. You will apply a "Bias for Action," promptly and decisively addressing safety and quality issues to prevent larger problems.
  • Conflict Resolution: Proactively address and mediate conflicts fairly and effectively, facilitating mutually acceptable solutions. This requires active listening, empathy, and the ability to de-escalate tense situations.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data and insights to reduce downtime and quality defects, driving quantifiable improvements in efficiency and quality. This includes meticulously tracking and reporting employee time and attendance, transforming raw data into actionable intelligence for strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.

You'll have...

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience in supervisory, manufacturing, military or other relevant experience. Internship and co-op experience will be considered
  • 1+ years of experience managing union workforce
  • Ability to work rotating shifts / hours, including nights and weekends

Even better, you may have...

  • Bachelor’s degree or Military Leadership
  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma methodology and / or Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) Experience
  • Prototype fabrication experience
