Join our team as a Unit Secretary and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our nursing unit. As a Unit Secretary, you will be responsible for performing all clerical functions and facilitating effective communication with both inter- and intradepartmental personnel.

Your role will be instrumental in maintaining an efficient, cost-effective, and organized nursing station. You will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide support services to patients with acute care needs. Under the guidance of the Lead Nurse, you will perform clerical and receptionist duties while assisting in the unit's daily operations.

Your Everyday

  • Ensures a safe environment for patients and others while performing priority technical procedures safely and legally.
  • Transcribes orders and maintains patient charts while fulfilling receptionist and clerical duties.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to improve patient care and ensure orderly unit operation.
  • Demonstrates care and concern for customers, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Utilizes effective interpersonal communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes and perceptions of satisfaction.
  • Enters supply rooms on nursing units as required for job functions, refraining from manipulating intravenous fluids.
  • Contributes to continuity of patient care by complying with established hospital and departmental policies.
  • Maintains documentation consistent with established guidelines to support patient care continuity.

The Must-Haves

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma/GED or work experience equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years of experience as a Secretary or Unit Clerk in healthcare setting required

Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing, Medical Science or equivalent
