Job Objective:
Creates the first and last impressions of the hospital experience for patients/guests/visitors by introducing and coordinating all non-clinical services available. Provides various clerical, administrative, and general office support involving computer order entry, creating forms, report preparation, record and file maintenance, scheduling of meetings, mail distribution and telephone reception. Essential Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Manages reception desk functions in collaboration with the clinical director; provides a warm welcome/farewell to all who enter/leave.
3. Assists in identification of possible risk issues and coordinates with clinical director for appropriate resolution (e.g., loss of any personal property).
4. Assists clinical director with non-clinical performance improvement initiatives.
5. Assists clinical director with personnel records, licensures and certifications; tracks due certifications, health screenings, and evaluations.
6. Assists with coordination of unit repairs/maintenance for unit.
7. Prepares and organizes work area on a daily basis.
8. Ensures proper physician’s names are displayed for the day.
9. Acts as liaison between patients and staff members.
10. Prepares miscellaneous paper charts for Health Information Management scanning.
11. Initiates computer entry for requests: bed transfer, discharge, against medical advice, and deceased patients.
12. Assigns Mobile Heart Beat staff phone number into Rauland Borg Responder system.
13. Answers patients call light and communicates patient needs to the care team.
14. Answers department phone within three rings and communicates in a calm, pleasant manner, identifying department and self.
15. Orders unit supplies with assigned M.S.C. and office supplies under the direction of the clinical director; aids in keeping unit and supplies orderly.
16. Prepares RN worksheets for report.
17. Documents correct and accurate information on daily census.
18. Initiates solutions to unit needs without prompting such as taking part in computer projects.
19. Notifies physician and or physician’s exchange and enters into computer for all physician consults.
20. Performs other duties as assigned.
