The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.

Traffic Services is responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, sustainable and reliable operation of the road network through the delivery of traffic investigations, traffic management initiatives, stakeholder engagement and specialist technical advice. The team contributes to improved road safety, accessibility and transport network performance for all road users.

The role provides strategic and technical leadership through the delivery of complex projects, management of staff, stakeholder engagement and the provision of expert traffic and transport engineering advice. It involves analysing and resolving complex issues, preparing reports and recommendations, driving continuous improvement, and contributing to organisational planning and policy development.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and collaborative leader with extensive traffic and transport engineering expertise, highly developed communication and stakeholder management skills, sound professional judgement, and a demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver successful outcomes in a complex environment.

Educational Qualifications / Licences

• Degree in Engineering or directly relevant discipline eligible for Membership of Engineers Australia.
• A current drivers' licence is essential.

Special Conditions

• A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
• A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, which must be renewed every five years before expiry.
• Some out of hours and weekend work may be required.

Remuneration

PO4 - $122,752 to $133,635 pa + superannuation.
