The Unit Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and operations within a designated unit of a healthcare facility. This role involves ensuring high-quality patient care, managing staff, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
Supervise nursing staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
Manage staff schedules and patient assignments.
Patient Care:
Ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care in accordance with established protocols.
Monitor patient outcomes and implement improvements as necessary.
Address patient and family concerns and provide support.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Budgeting and Resource Management:
Assist in budget preparation and management for the unit.
Ensure efficient use of resources and supplies.
Communication:
Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and administration.
Facilitate effective communication within the unit and across departments.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Masters degree preferred.
Licensure:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Masters degree in nursing sciences
Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, with leadership experience preferred.
Skills:
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technologies
