Unit Customer Service Rep - Short Stay -(260002XH)

The Unit Customer Service Representative serves as the primary administrative and communication hub for an inpatient nursing unit. The role supports patient flow, communication coordination, and unit operations by providing customer service, receptionist, and clerical support in a fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environment. The Unit Customer Service Representative facilitates timely communication between patients, families, visitors, and the healthcare team while ensuring unit organization, accurate information, and adherence to organizational standards and values.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the central communication resource for patients, families, visitors, and the healthcare team.

  • Triage and route incoming communications through unit communication systems, including telephones, intercoms, call systems, and alarms.

  • Maintain unit administrative functions, including patient census tracking, records management, and supply coordination.

  • Support patient admission and orientation processes, including dissemination of unit-specific information and resources.

  • Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of patient and unit information.

  • Maintain an organized, professional unit environment that supports patient safety and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with nursing staff and leadership to support unit workflow, patient flow, and service recovery needs.

  • Utilize standard office equipment, electronic systems, and hospital communication tools accurately and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior experience in customer service, administrative support, or clerical roles required.
  • Experience in a healthcare, hospital, or high-volume service environment.
  • Experience managing multiple communication channels and competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
