Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

As a UniSafe Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across the University of Waikato’s Hamilton campus. You will provide frontline security services, respond to incidents and emergencies, and support the wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving campus patrols, CCTV monitoring, emergency response, and building access management. You will work closely with internal teams and external agencies, including emergency services, to ensure a professional and responsive security service at all times.

Salary will be in the range of $60,046 to $72,636 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours), based on our Hillcrest Campus. For more information on the role please see the

Ko wai koe? – Who are you?

You are a reliable and professional security practitioner with strong situational awareness and the ability to remain calm under pressure. You take pride in maintaining a visible presence and delivering excellent service while ensuring safety and compliance.

You will also bring:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a security or similar role
  • A current First Aid Certificate and full, clean driver licence
  • Experience working with emergency services or contractors
  • Strong communication skills and customer-focused approach
  • Sound judgement and the ability to respond effectively in emergencies
  • Good administrative and computer skills

You are physically fit, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
