Job Description

As the leading brand of the Fast Retailing Group, UNIQLO has more than 2,500 stores around the world, Australia stands as a key market for UNIQLO in establishing its brand in the Asia and Oceania. UNIQLO opened the first store in Melbourne, in April 2014, and as of today has expanded to 41 stores including E-Commerce business.

To support our continued business expansion in Australia, we are seeking interns to join UNIQLO as UNIQLO Management Trainee (UMT).

About the UMT Internship Program:

The UMT Internship Program is an 8-week paid intensive program commencing from 30th November 2026 until 22nd January 2027 This internship program offers passionate and talented individuals an opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a UNIQLO storefront. You will work with key leaders of our store management team to learn the fundamentals of a global apparel retailer and gain experience in the everyday operations of the store, including but not limited to customer service, leadership and staff development, and business analysis.

In addition to your responsibilities in-store, you will also be allocated a project to work on during your internship. Examples of past projects include increasing internal employee morale, increasing brand awareness to customers, improving app downloads and signage, and more. At the end of the program, you will present your findings to the store and corporate leaders!

This internship program is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about growing their career in store management as it offers the opportunity to be considered for our UNIQLO Management Candidate (UMC) Graduate Program After completing the Internship program, you will attend an interview with the COO to assess your suitability for our UMC Graduate Program.

High performing interns will have the opportunity to participate in our Global Internship Program (GIP) which is a fully sponsored experience at UNIQLO’s Tokyo Headquarters!

About You:

  • Currently undertaking an undergraduate or postgraduate degree and will be completing your studies between March 2027 – Dec 2027
  • Australian or New Zealand citizen/Australian permanent resident at the time of application
  • Available to undertake your internship in your home state – either VIC or NSW
  • Available to work full-time and over the weekend/public holidays (38 hours a week)
  • Must be available to work during peak dates (18th – 19th Dec, 24th Dec and 26th Dec)
  • Strong interest in working in retail and joining our UMC Graduate Program
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Eager to learn with the ability to pick up new skills quickly
  • Previous retail experience (desirable)
  • Leadership experience (desirable)
