Required Certifications & Qualifications
Current State of Connecticut Coach Certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- Plan and conduct inclusive practices that accommodate athletes of varying abilities and skill levels.
- Coach and supervise Unified Sports practices, competitions, and team activities.
- Teach fundamental sport skills, rules, strategies, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Create a supportive environment where students of all abilities feel valued, respected, and included.
- Develop positive relationships with student-athletes, families, school staff, and community partners.
- Coordinate with school administrators, special education staff, athletic department personnel, and other coaches.
- Organize team schedules, equipment, transportation needs, and competition logistics as assigned.
- Monitor student participation, behavior, safety, and overall well-being during practices and competitions.
- Encourage leadership opportunities for students, including peer mentors and student-athletes serving in leadership roles.
- Promote the goals and values of Unified Sports throughout the school community.
- Maintain required records and complete school or athletic department documentation.
- Follow all school district, athletic department, and Unified Sports policies and safety procedures.
