Unified Sports Assistant Coach

The Unified Sports Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in providing an inclusive athletic program that creates meaningful opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities. The Assistant Coach assists with practices, competitions, student supervision, and program operations while promoting a safe, positive, and inclusive environment. Specific duties and responsibilities are assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director or Activities Director, and Principal.

As a Unified Sports Assistant Coach you must be:

• Available to coach on a seasonal, part-time basis, primarily after school.
• Available to work approximately 4�8 hours per week during the assigned season.
• Committed to promoting inclusion, teamwork, sportsmanship, and student engagement.
• Able to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and community partners.

Unified Sports May Include:

Fall

• Bowling
• Kickball

Winter

• Basketball

Spring

• Track and Field
• Soccer

Sports offered each season may vary by school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Assist the Head Coach with planning and supervising practices and competitions.
• Help provide a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants.
• Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions.
• Support communication with students, families, peer helpers, paraprofessionals, and school staff.
• Assist with equipment, attendance, transportation, and other program logistics.
• Encourage participation from students of all abilities and promote the philosophy of Unified Sports.
• Follow district, school, CHSAA, and Special Olympics policies and procedures, when applicable.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach or school administration.

• Knowledge of coaching fundamentals and positive youth development.
• Commitment to fostering inclusive athletic experiences for all students.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively while supporting the direction of the Head Coach.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow Board of Education and District policies.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all participants.

Program Expectations

• Unified Sports seasons typically operate for 6�8 weeks during the fall, winter, and spring.
• Practices and competitions generally occur after school for approximately 4�8 hours per week.
• The Assistant Coach supports all aspects of the assigned Unified Sports season under the direction of the Head Coach and school administration.

Salary range based on experience - $1540 - $1893 per season
