Job Description

  • Responsible for underwriting new and renewal accounts as well as risk and client visits, client meetings, claims involvement.

  • Contribute positively to the overall results of SCOR Business Solutions by demonstrably sound technical and profitable underwriting

  • Develop SCOR’s market share and leadership position

  • Enhance SCOR’s image in the market by efficient and innovative support of client needs

  • Negotiate bespoke service line specific wordings

  • Evaluate and underwrite complex D&O risks, negotiate bespoke wordings, and proactively drive new business in line with SCOR’s strategy to achieve profitability and growth targets.

  • Generate and originate new business and promote SCOR by pro-active marketing in accordance with the strategy and guidelines defined in the SCOR Roadmap and relevant guidelines

  • Successfully execute the Executive Risk strategy

  • Achieve and exceed the financial targets (profitability, expense, premium) for this line of business while also making a positive contribution to the SCOR Business Solutions.

  • Proactively manage your accounts and respond to all enquiries in a timely manner

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients across UK&I and Europe in support of business retention and acquisition, delivering exceptional service and collaborating on whole-account solutions

  • Collaborate with other SCOR Business Solutions underwriters in the London Market and UK&I and Europe to provide comprehensive “all lines” whole account solutions where possible.

  • Travel as and when required to do so and also attend broker- and client-hosted events

  • Support product innovation, underwriting methodology, and long-term growth initiatives, while staying ahead of legal, regulatory, and industry trends.

  • Assist the Regional Line Head in the research, development and report on new areas of potential profitable growth

  • Contribute to the division’s technical knowledge of sectors and sub-sectors in which the jobholder is working

  • Ensure accurate records, premium control, compliance with international licensing, and timely reporting to support business objectives.

  • Maintain accurate records of quotes, risks accepted and declinatures

  • Control and verify premium income according to business plan

  • Assist the Regional Line Head to produce reports of various formats for reporting purposes as required

  • Partner with the claims team on negotiations and settlements to protect SCOR’s interests and client relationships.

  • Maintain an overview of all claims advised, undertake regular updates with the claims team and where necessary provide input on claims negotiations and claims settlement.

  • Mentor team members and contribute to technical expertise within the division.

Required Education

Essential

  • Educated to A Level, or equivalent qualifications

Desirable

  • Relevant university degree, or equivalent

  • ACII Qualified

Experience

Essential

  • Established underwriter with several years of direct underwriting experience in the London Market or elsewhere

  • Proven underwriting skills including wording negotiation

  • Established market relationships

  • Experience of writing international business

Desired

  • Established client relationships

  • Sound technical knowledge of subjects associated to underwriting as well as a wider understanding of related legal, risk management, social and economic topics

  • Knowledge of competitors and brokers within the London market and internationally

  • Commercial and tactical vision

  • Ability to promote the underwriting policy

  • Ability to use spreadsheets to a good standard
