Position will work a hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in-office at E-Risk Services in Rockaway, New Jersey with 2 remote days per week.

Provides technical and administrative support to underwriting and management staff. Within defined company guidelines, reviews agent, broker or program manager issued policies or sets up for internal issuance, new and renewal policies, endorsements, inspections, claims, audits and non-renewal notices. Reviews various policy maintenance items for accuracy or processing and refers as required. Responsible to research and resolve inquiries from other departments. Corresponds with agents, brokers and program managers for corrections and outstanding file documentation. Determines the necessity of, and processes second and third requests. Maintains positive relationships with our agents, brokers and/or program managers.
Key Responsibilities:
Within defined company guidelines and defined authority, reviews policies or sets up for internal issuance new and renewal policies from agents, brokers or program managers with binding authority. Checks policy rates or provides rating, forms, prepares coding sheets, requests missing documentation or information and resolves any discrepancies. Reviews for accuracy, agency issued endorsements, cancellations and reinstatements and/or sets these up for internal issuance.
Achieves individual production, maintaining incoming tasks and queues within established standards.
Reviews and processes inquiries from other areas. Researches problems, and corresponds with General Agents, Brokers and Underwriters to resolve problem.
Evaluates or prepares inspection reviews within established guidelines to ensure accuracy of premium basis and exposures. Corresponds with agents, brokers or program managers regarding inspectors' recommendations as necessary.
Within defined company guidelines reviews for Underwriter policy maintenance items such as Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR's), underlying policies, reinsurance certificates, claims, and other policy-related reports for accuracy. Processes second and third requests and refers to Underwriter as necessary per guidelines.
May assist with rating for new business quotes when asked to do so by Underwriting. Rating consists of basic Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating, composite rating, experience rating, and any other types of rating required by the underwriter.
Processes second and third requests and follows up on documentation requested until received from agent, broker, or program manager.
Within defined parameters creates and completes agency audit worksheets.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to supervisor or manager. No direct reports.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Completion of general insurance courses such as IIA, AIS, ASLI is preferred.
Experience: 1 – 3 years related underwriting, processing or insurance support experience preferred. Prior experience as Tech Und Assistant, Statistical Processing Technician, Policy Processor or commercial Rater preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Basic business policies, practices and procedures. General understanding of basic analytical and financial techniques preferred. Knowledge of underwriting and pricing risks. Knowledge of company underwriting standards and philosophy. Verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of internal and external contacts. Ability to recognize problem situations, identify underlying issues, devise alternative solutions, select most appropriate action and follow through to implementation. Ability to prioritize own work/time. Ability to use PC and learn/use applicable systems. Ability to understand, perform and become proficient with automated and manual transactions.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
