Job Description
We are currently hiring a Underwriter to join the P&C team in Malaysian Branch. This role is responsible for holding the enterprise-wide responsibility to develop and execute a country-level strategy for Korea, or as decided by the Head of Treaty, which will drive value creation in line with the Branch’s business strategy.

Underwriting
- Underwrite and maintain Treaty business within the delegated authority, in accordance with the underwriting principles, procedures, relevant guidelines and align with group and local strategy.
Marketing & Business Development
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of treaty submissions, negotiate treaty structures, terms and wordings, and handle inquiries from clients and brokers in line with underwriting guidelines and branch business strategy.
- Develop and maintain business relationships with clients and brokers to support sustainable portfolio growth and long term value creation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Management
- Effectively communicate with the immediate team as well as the wider P&C business units. Manage business partner relationships, stakeholder engagements and apply effective negotiation skills. Contribute meaningfully to growing and maintaining the portfolio with an emphasis on technical results.
Reporting
- Review performance of designated portfolio, assist in preparing reports (board, management, ad hoc); Liaise with Technical Accounting to ensure accounts are up to date and monitor portfolio to measure variance from set targets.
Administration
- Maintain adequate procedure, record and administration on relevant document management and underwriting systems within scope of work.
You come equipped with
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Engineering, Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ of relevant experience in Property & Casualty (P&C)/ Non-Life insurance/reinsurance sector, preferably with exposure to treaty underwriting.
- Good knowledge and understanding of the Korea insurance/reinsurance market
- Familiarity with regional market dynamics, client needs, and regulatory environments
- Ability to communicate in Korean and English fluently to communicate and serve Korean speaking customers.
- Strong underwriting and portfolio building skills.
- Ability to interpret complex data, loss trends, and actuarial models for informed decision-making.
- Proficiency in underwriting tools and Microsoft Office; familiarity with actuarial/pricing software is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel for client and broker meetings, as required.
