About the Opportunity

Ulan Coal Mines, an established and high-output underground longwall coal mining operation in the western coalfields of NSW, is currently seeking a qualified Undermanager (Shift Supervisor) to join their team.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Undermanager is responsible for ensuring shift production and maintenance activities are undertaken safely and in compliance to plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure shift production and maintenance targets are achieved safely

  • Supervise, organise and monitor all on-shift activities

  • Ensure statutory responsibilities are fulfilled and the operation complies with legislative requirements

  • Provide guidance, coaching and assistance to frontline leaders

  • Manage employees and uphold site policies e.g. manage absenteeism, conduct incident investigations, action safety matters

  • Carry out field leadership and maintain a high level of safety at all times

Your Qualifications and Expertise

  • NSW 2nd Class (Undermanager's) Certificate of Competency

  • Diploma Underground Coal Mine Management (Undermanager)

  • Previous Undermanager experience

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of underground coal mining legislation

  • Ability to implement and oversee safe work practices and performance within the business

  • Act decisively to work in high pressure environments with competing priories

  • Strong computer skills – particularly MS Office Suite

  • Excellent interpersonal, cooperative and facilitation skills
