Job Description

At Moss Utilities, we specialize in underground utility installations across the DFW Metroplex. Our project experience includes commercial, single-family residential, multi-family residential, and public works infrastructure.

Pipe layer helper

The Pipe layer helper is responsible for installing sanitary and stormwater sewer systems by accurately aligning, positioning, and connecting pipe structures according to project specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Install sanitary and stormwater sewer structures and pipe systems.
  • Cut pipes to specified lengths according to project requirements.
  • Assist with aligning pipes during pipeline construction.
  • Align and position pipes for welding or sealing.
  • Verify slopes and grades using levels, lasers, or other measuring equipment.
  • Connect pipe sections and seal joints using welding equipment, cement, or approved adhesives.
  • Tap and drill holes in pipes to install auxiliary lines or devices.
  • Cover pipes with soil or other approved materials.
  • Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
  • Train crew members in proper pipe-laying techniques.
  • Perform other general labor and construction-related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and follow building plans, blueprints, and supervisory instructions; lay out work accurately; and perform tasks efficiently using the appropriate tools and materials.
  • Must be physically capable of performing manual labor in various environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (over 50 lbs.).
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions with consistency and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal competencies, including a drive for results, timely follow-through, effective verbal communication, organization, planning, dependability, trust, respect, and cooperation.
  • Must provide and maintain all required hand tools necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrates strong housekeeping practices and maintains a clean, orderly work area.

Our project capabilities and experience include commercial, education, industrial, datacenter, single-family residential, multi-family residential, and public works infrastructure projects all over the DFW Metroplex and the great state of Texas.

The Moss family has a legacy in the utility construction industry here in Dallas-Fort Worth dating back to the early 1900's.

In 2016, Garrett Moss, fifth generation in the business, decided to start Moss Utilities with the goal of creating a company that fosters both personal and professional growth of our employees and treats both customers and employees like family.
