Underground Mobile Fleet Maintenance Foreman

Loulo Gold Mine is seeking to recruit an Underground Mobile Fleet Maintenance Foreman to join and grow our team.

The role is responsible to ensure that Loulo underground equipment is maintained to the highest possible standard achieving an incident free, safe work environment, in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Barrick’s established health and safety policies, procedures, practices and Occupational Health and Safety Acts.

  • Visibly practice safety leadership through leading by example.

  • Actively ensure a safe environment for yourself, your peers and local communities through regular communication and due diligence.

  • Promptly report and correct unsafe acts and conditions.

  • Actively ensure that fatal risks are understood and critical controls are maintained.

  • Lead and direct the HME maintenance team, including assigning tasks, providing guidance and training, and ensuring that work is completed efficiently and safely.

  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for underground mobile equipment.

  • Oversee the execution of planned and unplanned HME maintenance tasks, including diagnosing problems, ordering parts, and ensuring equipment is repaired promptly and effectively to minimize downtime.

  • Coordinate with operations to plan major maintenance repairs with minimal impact on production.

  • Perform regular workplace inspections to identify and address issues.

  • Ensure all safety procedures and regulations are followed by the crew during maintenance activities and equipment operation.

  • Ensure the efficient use of the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and any issues that arise.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other departments to coordinate work and address issues as they arise.

  • Manage budgets, equipment inventories, and coordinate resources for maintenance and repair activities.

  • Train new hires and provide ongoing development to ensure that the crew has the skills required to perform their duties effectively.

Qualification Requirements

  • Recognized Mechanical / Electrical Trade Certificate.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / electrical engineering or a related field will be advantageous.

Experience and Skills Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in underground mobile equipment maintenance within the mining industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of underground mining operations, safety standards, and maintenance systems (e.g., SAP).

  • Proven experience with specific OEM equipment (e.g., Sandvik preferred).

  • Commitment to safety, including a commitment to a positive safety culture.

  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Must be team oriented and possess the ability to develop and foster a team environment.

  • Problem Solving, decision making and troubleshooting skills.

  • Understanding of budgeting and performance management.
