Underground Electrical Foreman

Kibali Gold Mineis seeking to recruit an Underground Electrical Foreman to join and grow our team.

The Underground Electrical Foreman is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all underground electrical installations and personnel. The position leads underground electrical teams, maintains compliance with statutory requirements and ISO standards, manages preventative maintenance programs, oversees training and performance management, and promotes a strong safety culture throughout the operation.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Lead and maintain a safe underground electrical workforce.
  • Promote and actively participate in a positive safety culture.
  • Support Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and ensure hazards are identified and corrected.
  • Ensure all personnel understand and comply with their Duty of Care obligations.
  • Investigate electrical incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence

Electrical Infrastructure Management

  • Maintain underground electrical installations in a safe and reliable condition.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with statutory and site requirements.
  • Ensure testing, recording, and documentation of electrical systems are completed as required.
  • Schedule and oversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and control costs.

Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Supervise and manage underground electrical personnel.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively and provide detailed handover reports.
  • Execute and monitor training schedules for national electricians.
  • Conduct performance reviews and annual appraisals for both expatriate and national electrical personnel.
  • Maintain records of electrical workers' qualifications.

Communication & Reporting

  • Coordinate with other departments to support operational objectives.
  • Report underground electrical status to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Participate in on-call rosters and respond to after-hours electrical issues.
  • Encourage participation in toolbox talks and safety meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Electrical Trade Qualification (Licensed Electrician).
  • HV/MV Switching certification.
  • Valid Driver's Licence.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified Electrician, preferably within the mining industry.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and leading electrical personnel in a production mining operation.
