UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The Peace, Security and Resilience Section leads UN Women’s work to fulfill its mandate in the area of peace, security and disaster risk reduction, as well as UN system efforts towards improved implementation, and monitoring and reporting of global commitments on women and peace and security, including as set out in the Beijing Platform for Action and in Security Council resolutions 1325 (2000), 1820 (2008), 1888 (2009), 1889 (2009), 1960 (2010), 2106 (2013), 2122 (2013), 2242 (2015), 2467 (2019) and 2493 (2019), relevant Statements by the President of the Security Council, and related accountability frameworks established by the UN system.
As part of the Peace, Security, Humanitarian and Resilience (PSHR) Section, UN Women hosts the Secretariat of the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF). WPHF is a partnership between the United Nations, Member States, and civil society, to provide accessible and flexible financing for women led and women’s rights organizations working in crisis and conflict affected settings. Since the end of 2016, the WPHF has supported over 1,800 civil society organizations and is present in 49 countries.
The WPHF Technical Secretariat (WPHF Secretariat) is the body responsible for the operational functioning of the Fund, serving as the GSC Secretariat. The WPHF Technical Secretariat core functions to lead on the achievement of WPHF’s Strategic Plan include, providing quality, flexible and effective funding, supporting global learning, capacity strengthening and knowledge generation, and strengthening governance, strategy implementation and accountability for the Fund.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of Head of Secretariat, the Deputy Head of Secretariat is responsible for the effective oversight and implementation of the WPHF regular Funding Cycle, Rapid Response Window and Women’s Human Rights Defender Window. The Deputy Head of Secretariat supervises and leads the Secretariat programme staff and works in close in close collaboration with Participating UN Organizations and Non-UN Organizations, as well as the WPHF Operations, Partnerships, Coordination and Communications teams to ensure successful implementation of the Secretariat’s Strategic Plan.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: The incumbent leads a team of 15, which includes 3 direct reports (P3s.), as well as 5 affiliate personnel (IPSA/NPSA, consultants and interns).
