Under the direction of the Manager, Radiology and the immediate supervision of the Department Lead, the Ultrasound Technologist performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. The Ultrasound Technologist will assume responsibility and accountability for specific ultrasound equipment and areas. In addition to the above responsibilities, the Ultrasound Technologist will also assist with facilitation of patient flow and performing basic patient care activities under the supervision of the department staff. The Ultrasound Technologist supports and contributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Medical Center and the Ultrasound Department.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum
* Competent in OB/GYN, soft tissue/small part and Abdomen ultrasonography as demonstrated by past work experience or clinical hours OR completion of a training program
Desired
* 2 years experience in Ultrasound
* Previous experience in an acute care environment
* Competent in all ultrasound examinations including interventional and vascular ultrasound
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum
* RDMS certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) (within 18 months of hire) (Those employees who were classified as Ultrasound Techs prior to January 1, 2017 who did not have their RDMS certification at that time will be grandfathered in without this requirement. Ultrasound Techs who have obtained their certifications are required to keep current with ARDMS requirements to maintain an active registry)
* Current approved CPR certification

* Completion of Ultrasound training program
* Certification in Nuchal Translucency through the NTQR
* Certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by ARDMS
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of human structure and function, patient care, quality assurance, and specialized techniques as required for an Ultrasound Technologist. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and problem solving techniques are required. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
