$20,000 sign on bonus
Schedule: Monday 6:30a-5p, Friday 630a-5p and every other Saturday 7a-330p
Under general supervision and following established procedures, the incumbent operates ultrasound-imaging equipment to acquire images and communicate sonographer impressions to interpreting physicians. The incumbent must have problem-solving skills and be active participant in departmental initiatives. The incumbent needs to effectively communicate with students, peers, patients, and physicians to ensure safety and quality of imaging. Exercises independent judgment to modify scan techniques for optimal image quality. Must be solution oriented, exemplify professional, respectful, and inclusive behavior with all staff, patients, visitors, and students and actively participate in departmental initiatives.
Patient and exam verification: a. Ensures that two points of patient identification, date of birth & full name, are obtained to verify correct patient is being treated. b. Reviews the order for exam and indications, and patient’s chart for pertinent clinical history. c. Prepares and cleans the equipment and room for each patient. Stocks supplies to ensure rooms are ready to care for patients.
Patient Care & Collaboration: a. Uses clear communication when explaining the exam to the patient, taking into consideration physical and emotional need. Ensures understanding and maintains ethical standards (patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc). b. Works collaboratively with leadership team to ensure smooth efficient patient flow and optimal utilization of US scanners. c. Delivers patient care under scope of license/training.
Department Coverage - Remains flexible in all shift coverage and overtime situations as necessary
Clinical Performance: a. Performs all duties pertaining to the performance of clinical ultrasound exams. b. Oversee and instruct sonographers, professional staff, and students within the department. This includes but is not limited to US equipment operation, protocols, and other technical aspects. c. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Research Performance: a. To acknowledge and participate in research programs, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects carried on in the department. b. Performs all duties pertaining to the performance of research ultrasound exams.
Qualifications
Education
Associate's Degree Diagnostic Imaging required or Associate's Degree Diagnostic Medical Sonographer required. Bachelor's preferred
Certification
ARDMS within 90 days
Experience
ultrasound scanning experience 0-1 year preferred
