The Ultrasound Technologist performs a wide variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures and produces high quality diagnostic images.This role explains patient preparation, patient scheduling, procedure instructions and process to patients in addition to working with Radiologists and physicians in a manner that improves patient care.

What the Ultrasound Technologist will do:

  • Performs ultrasound procedures and operate all machines in a safe and proper manner.
  • Assists Radiologists with invasive procedures.
  • Articulates exam results, as directed by Radiologist, to Physicians, RNs, and patients.
  • Assesses and monitors patient condition during procedures.
  • Performs clerical and support functions associated with ultrasound process.
  • Properly instructs students in on-the-job clinical.
  • Demonstrates good customer service skills, finds ways to better serve customer.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills, to patients, clients, hospital staff, and all radiology staff.
  • Helps to maintain adequate supply inventory.

What the Ultrasound Technologist will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Certification or re-certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three months of hire.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) (RDCS for Cardiac) with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS in OB or AB and Vascular RVT Certification) or able to attain credentials within 1 year of hire. Once registered, must maintain registry status in compliance with the CE requirements of their certifying organization for the imaging modality in which they perform services.
  • Preferred: Registry in OB, AB and RVT
  • Graduate of a two-year program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP)
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited CAAHEP program
  • Preferred: one or more years of ultrasound experience
