Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Technologists must be registered and in good standing with the ARDMS with credentialing in physics, vascular and abdominal preferred.

Maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE

Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Under the indirect supervision of the Radiologist, performs the full range of diagnostic Ultrasound procedures as per the established Radiologist protocols. Assist physicians with invasive US biopsy procedures.
  2. Performs and evaluates ultrasound images exams providing accurate documentation and images of procedure(s) results. Communicates pertinent information to the Radiologist regarding the procedure & findings.
  3. Demonstrates competence in utilizing all imaging support equipment to include transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, RIS and PACS system.
  4. Maintains inventory of all required procedure supplies.
  5. Maintains exams room in an orderly and safe condition.
  6. Comprehensively explains the ultrasound process and procedure to the patient and answers any questions the patient has regarding the procedure to alleviate any patient anxiety.
  7. Accurately operates all functions of the RIS system to include entering orders and charging of all procedures.
  8. Displays superior interpersonal skills with patients and peers.
  9. Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown immediately to supervisor.
  10. Attends all required safety training programs and describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
  11. Maintains proper working condition of all equipment; promptly reports any equipment variances or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  12. Maintains competencies in all Ultrasound procedures.
  13. Assists in other areas of the Imaging department when not performing Ultrasound procedures.
  14. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous hospital environment.
  15. Operate and maintain high level disinfection of all probes via Trophon.

  • The employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
