Job Description

  1. Clinical skills
  2. Exhibits working knowledge of all Ultrasound equipment and procedures.
  3. Refers to physician's orders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.
  4. Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
  5. Explains procedure completely to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety.
  6. Performs all procedures in an efficient and timely manner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
  7. Coordinates Ultrasound schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
  8. Patient/General Safety
  9. Corrects and reports accidents, incidents and safety hazards.
  10. Uses PPE (personal protective equipment) when appropriate.
  11. Is aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information.
  12. Uses good body mechanics when moving patients.
  13. Adheres to infection control practices.
  14. Equipment Maintenance
  15. Routinely cleans equipment and probes and reports problems to service.
  16. Has service performed monthly PM's on equipment.
  17. Documentation/Communication
  18. Complete Exam Data Entry fields on all exams.
  19. Documents all pertinent information, i.e., patient history, tech initials.
  20. other duties as assigned
  21. Is available to work a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24-hour coverage of the Ultrasound Department
  22. Assist in other areas of the department as workload permits.
  23. Keeps areas well stocked at all times.
  24. Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service, and Quality.

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of sonography or completion of an ultrasound program.

Licensure/Certification: American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography Registry, Active and unrestricted A.R.D.M.S. certification or CCI-RCS. Basic Life Support.
