The Ultrasonic Examination (UE) I team member will support the safe handling and maintenance of high-pressure cylinders in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations, while upholding the standard operating procedures of Airgas. Helper - Support truck loading & unloading, operate forklift equipment, gain familiarity with cylinders by size, label, and color, organize cylinders by valve type/gas service and size, conduct visual inspections of cylinders, and assist with setup for testing.

  • Contributes to all Ultrasonic Examination (UE) functions for Levels, UE I.
  • Maintains a neat, safe work environment and supports 6S standards.
  • Assists with preventative maintenance on the cylinder stamping and paint systems.
  • Inspects cylinders following standard procedures in alignment with government, Airgas, and distributor standards. Conducts a variety of safety checks per procedures, such as reviewing for visual defects and examining valves, safeties, and caps.
  • Supports the safe care and preparation of high-pressure industrial, medical, and specialty gas cylinders. Prepares high-pressure cylinders for filling in collaboration with plant team members. Ensures cylinders are thoroughly inspected and maintained to applicable standards.
  • Assists with loading & unloading cylinders on & off pallets, trucks, and tractor-trailers. Safely operates a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Coordinates documentation and record-keeping to DOT, OSHA, and Airgas standards. Completes quality control sheets as required.
  • Builds awareness and understanding of various gas hazards; identifies cylinder sizes and contents by reading and interpreting cylinder labels, CGA valve types, and tank color-coding. Accurately labels cylinders.
  • Aligns with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials and cylinder gases.
  • Participates in all ongoing training including Safety, DOT, basic cylinder handling, AGU, & UE.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and orderly plant appearance.
  • Welcomes other supportive duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate a forklift and maintain forklift certifications.
  • Additional hand truck equipment may be used.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Previous work in an industrial production setting is preferred.

The hourly base pay range for this position in California is $22.00/hr.. Please note that the hourly base pay information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
