Job Description

We’re looking for a UX/UI Designer to working as part of a cross-functional product team delivering critical capabilities for a Special Operations organization. You will have direct access to stakeholders across multiple persons and must be comfortable working in a military setting and with military personnel — crafting an application with world-class user interfaces that are intuitive, fast, and purpose-built for one of the customer’s highest priority lines of effort. In this role, you will be the primary driver user experience and user interface, working in tandem with product managers, full-stack developers, and our core platform team.

This is equal parts strategic thinker, technical collaborator, and product evangelist If you thrive in ambiguity, love building something from the ground up, and want to make a tangible difference, we want you.

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors—helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Design intuitive, task-focused interfaces for our progressive web-based application.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, leadership, contracting specialists, and end-users to identify needs, pain points, and innovative solutions to improve legacy processes and deliver value across the entire product lifecycle.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, visual designs, and interaction patterns tailored for a variety of stakeholders invested in solving the problem.
  • Ensure designs align with the broader platform design system and UX philosophy.
  • Participate in usability testing, user interviews, and validation — then quickly iterate based on real-world feedback.
  • Support developers during implementation and maintain design fidelity throughout the product and delivery lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our design standards and scalable design system to support the broader program and enterprise.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI or product design.
  • Portfolio demonstrating app design work — ideally in enterprise, supporting military operations, or business process improvement.
  • Proficiency with tools like Figma, Adobe CC, and prototyping platforms.
  • Strong foundation in visual design, interaction design, accessibility, and responsive layouts.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with full-stack engineers, data engineers, and product owners – both military and civilian.
  • Understanding of 508 compliance and designing for secure government environments.
  • Active Secret clearance required.

The target salary range for this position ranges from $100,000-$160,000.
