What we are looking for

DICE is seeking a UI Artist to report directly to the Lead UI Artist. The ideal candidate will take UX wireframes and translate them into visual UI mockups, delivering end-to-end features while adhering to and maintaining our design system. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, creating high-quality UI art assets and reliably estimating and delivering production work on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate UX wireframes into clear, compelling UI art mockups aligned with visual design goals.
  • Produce high-quality UI art assets that are consistent with established art direction and follow approved visual benchmarks.
  • Maintain and contribute to the UI design system, ensuring visual consistency, scalability, and UI asset integrity across the game experience.
  • Deliver end-to-end UI features, taking work from initial visual concepts through to production and engine implementation.
  • Estimate time and scope accurately for your tasks, delivering quality work on schedule and within budget.
  • Work directly in Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator to design screen layouts, iconography, and visual components.
  • Export and optimize production-ready UI art for the game engine, ensuring assets meet technical specs and design intent.
  • Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, engineers, and the lead artist to iteratively refine UI art based on feedback from team members.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in UI art for video games, with a portfolio showing strong visual design applied to interactive systems.
  • Solid understanding of visual layout, typography, visual hierarchy, color theory, and UI iconography.
  • Proven ability to work with UX wireframes and translate functional user flows into visual UI mockups.
  • Demonstrated experience using software tools like Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator in a production environment.
  • Good time-management skills with a track record of accurately estimating task effort and consistently meeting project deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an open mind to feedback from leads and team members.

Desirable / Bonus Skills

  • Ability to create animated comps, motion graphics, and interactive prototypes using Figma Prototypes, Figma Motion, or After Effects to bring UI elements to life.
  • Experience using 3D tools like Blender for the purposes of producing high quality 2D art.
  • Prior experience implementing, testing, and optimizing assets directly inside a game engine.
  • Experience working on first-person shooters and/or familiarity with the Battlefield franchise.
